Kia ora, my name is Tracey and I’m very excited to have joined the web team as a developer at Melon Health.
I’m originally from Dunedin where I spent a lot of time at the University of Otago. I’ve always had a broad range of interests and a love of learning, so I enjoyed the chance to try out different subjects while studying. I gained qualifications in Anthropology and Public Health before stumbling upon programming as part of my job in Research and Enterprise at the University of Otago.
With the help of many talented developers and a Computer Science degree, I’ve made software development my profession for the last 8 years. I love the creative problem solving that we do on a day to day basis, and love thinking about code as a means of communication and a way to turn complex problems into something more simple.
I love writing code in Ruby and Elixir but I’m always keen to try something new! I’m really looking forward to combining my previous study in Public Health with my skills as a software developer to make products that are empowering for their users.
When I’m not at a computer I love to stay active and get outdoors. You’ll often find me out exploring with my partner and my daughter, enjoying seeing life through the eyes of a toddler.
