Tenā koutou, Ko Harley Manuera Rogers āhau

Kia ōra āno koutou, I am very happy and grateful to be Melon Health’s new Manager of Programmes and Partnerships.

I come to Melon Health with an eclectic background. Firstly, I am a qualified and licenced carpenter with over ten years of building experience. However, my application to health comes from me re-training in 2009 and completing a Bachelor of Health Science in 2011. Since 2011, I have been working as a health professional in various positions in the New Zealand’s public health system.

My roles have included: a little bit of building ☺, the running of a hospital based healthy lifestyle programme, clinical service delivery in HVDHB cardiology (e.g. the diagnosis of people with cardiac related condition), general health promotion, co-ordination of community health initiatives, work in Te Ao Maori and specific Maori Health roles, Primary Care based target projects i.e. More heart and diabetes checks & Smoking ABC.

For the last two years, I implemented, maintained and managed a Long Term Condition (chronic) programme in the 21 general practice within the Hutt Valley, employed under the Hutt Valley PHO.

I am fortunate that my health work doubles as my passion. Passion, because I have lived and continue to experience the impact chronic health conditions have on Te Ao Hauora/the Health World. My experiences have driven and will continue to drive me to want to make a positive impact on the health world.

The loves in my life are…

  • My growing little whanau which consists of my wife Terryn, my bulldog Arthur, the family rabbit Megatron and the apple of my eye, my daughter Amelie. harleyfamily.jpg
  • My dysfunctional yet amazing, inspirational other whanau members.
  • All things to do with the ocean and all things to do with physical activity. Surfing, diving, fishing, kai moana, basketball, skating, running, building and tennis.

I look forward to applying my knowledge, energy and passion for health, to my new role here at Melon Health.
